The Marxist College of Shandong University is an independent secondary unit directly under the school. It is the support unit of the teaching Department of ideological and political theory, the Marxist theoretical research institution, and the Marxist theoretical discipline. The college was established in May 2007 and its predecessor was the Department of Marxist Theory Teaching of Shandong University. In 2015, he was selected as the first batch of "National Key Marxist College Construction" by the Central Propaganda Department and the Ministry of Education.

The institution of the college is complete. There are four teaching and research rooms: Marxist basic principles, Sinicized Marxism, ideological and moral cultivation and legal foundations, and situation policies; It has 4 provincial key theoretical research bases and Shandong political party political theory innovation bases, Shandong Provincial Party Theory Research Base, Shandong Provincial Theoretical Construction Project Key Research Base, Shandong University Ideological and Political Theory Teaching Research and Teacher Training Base. The key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education(Institute of Contemporary Socialism, Shandong University) is a cooperative joint construction unit within the college.

Teachers have a reasonable structure. The college has a high-level teaching staff with deep academic cultivation, reasonable age structure, and excellent academic titles. There are 112 existing teachers(including 72 full-time teachers in Jinan Campus, 16 part-time teachers in the "Situation and Policy" class, and 24 full-time teachers in Weihai Campus), including 26 professors, 50 associate professors, and 14 doctoral supervisors. Among the teachers under the age of 50 in the college, there are 58 doctoral degrees, accounting for 52 % of teachers; There are 25 teachers with overseas training experience, accounting for 22.3 % of teachers.

The school cooperates with the scientific socialism and the international communist movement, the history of the Communist Party of China, and the United front science in three secondary disciplines to jointly build Marxist theoretical first-level disciplines. At the level of various secondary disciplines, it has focused on building a number of disciplines at the forefront of academic development and formed several academic teams. The theory of Marxist political parties and the political research team of socialist political parties and the overall research team of Marxism all have the leading level of domestic research.

Scientific research has been fruitful. In recent years, the college has undertaken more than 200 scientific research projects and received more than 10 million yuan in research funding. Among them, there are 1 major national tender project, 1 major research project in the humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, 1 key project in the National Marxist theoretical research and construction project, and the National Social Science Planning Office. One project. The college publishes more than 60 books; Published more than 1,100 papers(more than 500 papers in CSSCI journals). Social services have achieved outstanding results. One person was appointed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security as an expert in cadre education and training; One person was selected as an expert in the National Cadre Education and Training Division of the Central Organization Department; Three people won the title of "National 100 Outstanding Social Science Popularization Experts". One person was hired as a special researcher of the National Party Construction Research Association and was interviewed by the then leading comrades of the Central Government.
